The Malt House, Boughton Monchelsea, Kent

Malt houses were used for drying grain on floors to produce malt for brewing. This one has a warehouse built in where the malt would have been stored. It was built around 1860 of local ragstone. Find out more about maltings in our Teachers' Kit - Maltings.
