Moreton Mill, Shawbury, Shropshire

These buildings are the remains of an important ironworking site. It was originally a forge for making wrought iron. It was used intermittently from the early 17th century. It was rebuilt in 1759-61. This was perhaps in response to a change in the technology of iron making. It remained in use until c1794. By 1880 it had been converted into a corn mill and a sawmill.
