The primary aim of the Conservation Principles, Policies and Guidance is to support the quality of decision-making, with the ultimate objective of creating a management regime for all aspects of the historic environment that is clear and transparent in its purpose and sustainable in its application.
Conservation Principles consultation
Conservation Principles is being updated to set out Historic England’s approach to conservation in more accessible format aligned with the language of the National Planning Policy Framework and legislation.
In November 2017 we consulted on our revised Conservation Principles. The consultation closed on 2 February 2018.
