The RMS Empress of Britain was renamed to the SS Montroyal in 1924; this is noted in the Bedford Lemere daybook. The daybook records that this photograph is one of a series commissioned by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, an associated company of the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company.
