Tynemouth Station, Station Terrace, North Tyneside NE30 4RE

This Grade II*-listed railway station, built around 1882 by William Bell of the North Eastern Railway Company. The principal feature of the site is the interior ironwork of the platform canopies and footbridge, fabricated in an exuberant style that is appropriate to a seaside resort. Arched canopies, about 200 yards long, also boast decorative spandrels and apex and are supported by non-classical columns with foliated capitals.
