Dunkeswell Abbey, founded in 1201, was a Cistercian monastery that still boasts extensive archaeological remains. Its layout follows the traditional monastic plan, including a church, cloister, and fishponds. The abbey was dissolved in 1539, with parts of the site reused and preserved.
