Duddon Iron Furnace, Millom Without, Cumbria LA20 6ET

Constructed in 1736, this charcoal-fired iron furnace is the oldest of its kind in northern England. It was powered by a water-driven wheel that operated bellows to pump air into the blast furnace. Visitors can view the remains of charcoal barns, iron ore storage, and the furnace stack, and an interpretation panel is available on site. It is Grade II* listed and is a scheduled monument.
