Buckden Towers, The Street

Buckden Towers, The Street, Buckden, Cambridgeshire PE19 5TA

There has been a Palace here since the 12th Century, when it accommodated the Bishops of Lincoln in buildings of timber construction. These were progressively replaced by brick buildings. Of these, the most spectacular is the tower itself, built in 1475, and which in its massive scale resembles the keep of a castle.

Opening Arrangements

Estate grounds open daily. Tours can be arranged by appointment to include the tower buildings as well as the Victorian house and a series of more contemporary chapel buildings. There is a Tudor-style Knot Garden, maintained by volunteers which is also open daily.
