Ashwell Village Museum, Swan Street
Ashwell Village Museum, Swan Street, Ashwell, Baldock, North Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire SG7 5NY
The front part of Ashwell Museum comprises the remaining two bays of a medieval house dating from around 1500. The building was extended to the rear in the early to mid-19th century and underwent refurbishment, and was further extended, in the early 20th century. The early 16th-century, two-storey timber frame is jettied with a gable above, and faces on to Swan Street. The timberwork was exposed as part of the 1930s ‘restoration’.
