Acknowledging Your Historic England Grant and Communicating Your Project

Everyone who receives funding from Historic England needs to acknowledge this publicly.

By accepting your funding from Historic England, you have made a commitment to acknowledge publicly the support of both Historic England and the UK Government.

We ask that you share the news of your project and our funding with the public whenever you can and encourage you to do this both during your project and afterwards to celebrate your achievements.

We encourage you to be creative in acknowledging Historic England's support. It's best to plan how you are going to acknowledge the grant from the start as budget may need to be set aside for this.

In addition to acknowledging us in all press and media activity, you are also required to use both the ‘Funded by Historic England’ logo and the ‘Funded by UK Government’ logo on any products we are funding and at any sites where funded work is taking place.

Our Grant Acknowledgement toolkit provides tips and inspiration to help you publicise your project effectively and provides guidance on how the logos should be used.

The Public Engagement Manager in your local office can advise, guide and support you to achieve effective communications throughout your project. It's a good idea to draw up a communication plan with them at the outset and to keep it updated as the project progresses.

Their contact details are included in the Grant Acknowledgement toolkit.
