St Bartholomews Church Of England School, Wigginton, Hertfordshire

Pupils working on gym equipment at St Bartholomew's Church of England Primary School. Although this may be a dedicated gymnasium it appears that the equipment could be collapsible. The stack of tables suggests this room could be a classroom, the hall or the dining room. The school was founded in 1854 by the Reverend Gaisford, to enable all children within the parish bounds to receive full time education. It was originally a plaiting school in which children made straw plaits for the Luton hat industry. This new school building was dedicated by the Lord Bishop of St Albans on 15th March 1969.
