Royal Holloway College, near Egham, Surrey

Royal Holloway College from the grounds facing north-east. The college was founded after Thomas Holloway initiated a public debate on 'How best to spend a quarter of a million or more'. A college for women was considered appropriate. It was built in 1879-87 to designs by W H Crossland in the French Renaissance style.
