Quebec Wharf, Kingsland Road, Hackney, Greater London
This building was built in 1878 for the North Metropolitan Tramways Company. It was a forage (feed) warehouse for its horses. It comprised a canalside granary with attached boiler and engine house, offices and a house. It is the best remaining example in south east England of a canal-side granary, probably the most distinctive relic of the 19th century horse tramway system of London. It is also one of the few remaining buildings associated with canal wharfage in London. It was used as a spice warehouse for a short time in the later 20th century, then converted into flats.
