Polegate Mill, Park Croft, Polegate, East Sussex
This good example of a tower mill was built in 1817. It replaced an old post mill on the South Downs. It was working by wind until 1943. The mill was then worked by auxiliary engine, latterly an electric motor, until 1965. It was originally in the parish of Willingdon and called Willingdon Mill until 1939 when the parish boundary was moved and it became part of Polegate parish. It has also been known as Mockett's Mill and Ovenden Mill after past owners.
