Park Keeper's Lodge, Ward Jackson Park, Hartlepool

This park keeper's Lodge dates from 1883. It was designed by Henry Suggitt, the Park Manager. The Victorians built parks in most towns. Most had several entrances with gates and lodges where people who worked in the park could live. They were responsible for security and closing the gates when the park closed. Park buildings were generally built in a style that was designed to blend in with the park landscape.
