No 14, South Parade, Acton, Greater London

This house was built in 1889-91 by the architect C F A Voysey. It was built for the artist J W Forster. Its unusual design was intended as a protest against the bland red brick of the rest of the ‘suburb’. However, local residents of the time objected strongly to what they considered the old fashioned look of the white stucco and leaded light windows. This is one of Voysey's first houses and as such is of the greatest historical importance.
