Mounting blocks outside 8 to 31, Caledonia Place, Clifton, Bristol

This terrace of 31 houses was built around 1843. Mounting blocks made from Pennant stone were provided to help people get onto their horses. Horses or horse-drawn carriages were the main form of transport at this time.
