Liverpool Road Railway Station, Manchester, Greater Manchester
This is a former passenger railway station and goods station. It was at the terminus of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. It was built in 1830 by George Stephenson for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway Company. An attached house of 1808 was used as the station agent's house. Liverpool Road station is the oldest surviving passenger railway station in the world. It stopped handling passenger traffic in 1844 when Hunt's Bank station, now Victoria Station, opened. It continued in use as a goods station until 1975.
