Langley School, Russell Street, Luton
A large and impressive Board School built in 1880 on a corner site. It was constructed from Luton grey brick with lighter red brick decoration with a Welsh slate roof. Board schools were often built in the 'school board' style with local variations, as in this case. Many were expensive buildings as they were seen as a source of civic pride. Many board school buildings are still in use, although not all are still schools.
