Dartmouth, Devon

An elevated view looking north over the River Dart, with the town of Dartmouth to the left and the villlage of Kingswear to the right. From the 1700s there has been a ferry crossing the River Dart across the harbour to Kingswear - known as the Lower Ferry. The ferry boat can be seen tied up at Kingswear. This ferry service still runs in 2011. The Dartmouth and Torbay Railway ran along the estuary to Kingswear from 1857.
