Church Hall (Old Grammar School), Crewkerne, Somerset
This building was built as a Grammar School in 1636. The Grammar School was founded in 1499 by John DeCombe, precentor of The Cathedral Church of Exeter. Records tell us that in 1577 trustees included "6 of the most discreetest men in town". From the early 17th century they gave the town financial support. They lent money during the plague, gave to the poor and advanced cash to buy fire buckets.
