Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Cheltenham College was the first of the new Victorian public schools. It started in 1841 in Rodney Road. These premises were built mainly in the 1840s and 50s. These public schools were set up for Upper and Upper Middle Class boys. They focused on teaching the classics and physical activity (P.E). They were meant to prepare the boys for likely future careers in the military or public services.
