As methods of glass production progressed it became possible to make many identical, highly accurately calibrated transparent vessels. This had the effect that controlled research could be carried out during the scientific discoveries of the 17th and 18th centuries, which in turn aided the Industrial Revolution of the 18th and19th centuries.
