Description

A series of eighty-four sheets of plans, sections, elevations, surveys and rectified photography of Ambleside Roman Fort, created between 1976 and 1991, but dating largely to the mid-1980s.

The series includes two groups of topographic survey plans showing the fort and its surrounding landscape, created by Plowman Craven and Associates on behalf of the Department of the Environment in April 1984 (fourteen sheets) and July 1985 (sixteen sheets).

There is a group of six survey sheets concerning the barn to the north of the fort, also created by Plowman Craven and Associates on behalf of the Department of the Environment, dating to between August and October 1985.

The series also includes a group of five excavation plans showing the excavated masonry remains of a granary building at the fort.

The series includes a total of twenty-nine Oversized Drawings.
