Description

The drawing depicts a mosaic which was photogrammetrically reduced from rubbings and hand-coloured by James E. Williams, Royal Commission on Historical Monuments.

The mosaic was uncovered in 1927 in Foundry Yard, Lott & Walne's, High Street, Fordington, Dorset. It was re-laid in Worthies Room, Dorset County Museum. The original mosaic probably dates from the 4th century A.D., and is comparable with the Flora apsidal pavement in Bignor, Sussex.

Archival History
