A view of the Moot Hall, Elstow, Bedford
- Date:
- circa 1903
- Location:
- Moot Hall, The Green, Elstow, Bedford
- Reference:
- RBO01/02/OP06512
- Type:
- Photograph (Gelatine Print)
The reverse of the photograph says this is Bunyon's Meeting House, Bedford. This is incorrect. The Moot Hall is in the village where John Bunyan was born and although it has little direct connection with Bunyan it contains the pulpit used by Christopher Hall, vicar of Elstow from 1639 to 1664, whose sermons began to arouse Bunyan's conscience.
