They depict historic buildings and street scenes in England (most commonly in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Kent). Twenty of the photographs were mounted for exhibition display. Other photographs show National Buildings Record Director Cecil Farthing and photographer Herbert Felton. Palmer himself is shown in three of the photographs.
A handlist is available for series one.
Series two consists of negatives within the NMR negative run. These have been catalogued on demand only.
This collection was acquired by the NMR in 1996.
Frederick John Palmer (1901-1990) was a professional photographer and a significant contributor of photographs to the NMR up to 1960. His negatives and prints made from them are in the NMR's main negative sequence and Red Box Collection.
