Description

The collection consists of an album of photographic prints by Stewart Bale, documenting the factory belonging to the Liverpool Electric Cable Company Limited on Linacre Lane, Bootle. The photographs record the interior and exterior of the plant showing the machinery used, and processes undertaken in the manufacture of electric cable. The majority show interior views, a small number of these include members of the workforce in shot. There are two exterior views, one showing the main frontage onto Linacre Lane the other showing cable being loaded onto a truck in the goods yard. The front cover of the album is embossed in gold with 'Liverpool Cables' and the company name and address. The inner cover is inscribed 'W S Taylor 1923/4' and the photographer's details.

Received Via : Purchased via Inch's Books, York, 1991 Provenance : Photographs mounted as prints in a named album were taken, on behalf of the Liverpool Electric Cable Company, by the Liverpool photographer Stewart Bale The photographs date from 1920s; the album is dated 1923
