Visit Grant-Aided Places

We provide grants to help conserve historic places throughout England. These include listed buildings, scheduled monuments and designed landscapes. Many grant-aided places open to the public as a condition of their grant.

The extent of public access varies from one property to another. Some are open throughout the year, some on certain days only, and others provide public access only by prior arrangement. In some cases, access may be limited to certain parts of the building or site.

All restoration made with HE grant assistance is visible externally. The site offers unrestricted external access to the public with seating and picnic tables provided. The interior is yet to be restored and has hazards, but access is encouraged under supervision of trained guides. Contact details for booking viewings are given on a permanent notice at the site and on the website. In addition, the windmill will be open on alternate Sundays from 13th April until end of September 2024 when guides will be on hand for visitors without prior booking. These are advertised on the website, via local posters and in local newsletters.
